Sri Aman Firefighters Remove Wasp Nest Safely

SRI AMAN – Firefighters from the Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Department successfully carried out a special service operation to remove a wasp nest on 11 July 2026. The incident, reported at 8:41 PM, occurred along Jalan Sembauh, approximately nine kilometres from the Sri Aman fire station.

The operation was led by PB Mohd Kamarol bin Ani, who acted as the commander at the scene. The team responded after receiving a report from a member of the public, En. Amirul Naim, who alerted authorities to the presence of the nest on a roadside tree.

Upon arrival, the commander assessed the situation and, equipped with full personal protective equipment (PPE), proceeded to destroy the wasp nest using a flame torch. The operation was completed safely, with no further hazards detected in the area.

No other agencies were involved in the incident, and no senior officers were present at the site. The operation was conducted by a small team using standard logistics, including an EMRS unit.

The Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Department highlighted that such interventions are part of their commitment to community safety. Wasp nests can pose serious risks to residents, particularly when located near roadsides or populated areas. By responding quickly and effectively, the department ensures that potential dangers are neutralised before they escalate.

Officials noted that while the operation was successful, minor challenges were encountered, including the absence of protective coverings for certain equipment. Nevertheless, the team managed the situation effectively and reported the completion of the task back to headquarters.

The department reiterated its dedication to providing fast, friendly, and high-performing services to the public. Residents are encouraged to report similar hazards promptly to ensure swift action and to prevent accidents or injuries.

This incident underscores the importance of community cooperation in maintaining safety. By working together with local authorities, residents can help identify and address risks that may otherwise go unnoticed.
