KUCHING – Firefighters from BBP Tabuan Jaya continued their efforts on Day 2 of the Demak Laut factory fire, focusing on the final phase of extinguishing operations known as ‘overhaul’. This stage ensures that no embers or hidden fire sources remain, preventing the risk of re-ignition.
The operation was carried out systematically under the RECEO firefighting concept, which guides every intervention:
Rescue: Prioritising the safety and evacuation of victims. Exposure: Protecting nearby structures and areas from fire damage. Confinement: Controlling the fire to prevent further spread.
Extinguishment: Ensuring flames are fully put out. Overhaul: Conducting thorough inspections to eliminate remaining embers and hazards.
The overhaul phase at Demak Laut involved detailed checks across the affected site, with firefighters ensuring complete safety before concluding operations.
Officials emphasised that firefighting is not merely about extinguishing flames but about following a structured strategy to save lives, protect property, and secure communities. The RECEO framework ensures that every step is carried out with precision and accountability.
Local community members and PBS Bako expressed gratitude to the firefighters for their dedication and professionalism, noting that their systematic approach provided reassurance and safety to residents in the area.
The Demak Laut incident highlights the importance of preparedness and structured response in firefighting operations.
By adhering to the RECEO concept, Sarawak’s fire and rescue teams continue to demonstrate their commitment to protecting lives and property while maintaining public confidence in emergency services.
