The District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received the emergency call at 9.17 am from a member of the public who noticed the animal stuck beside his shop premises. Responding swiftly, the Alpha Squad, comprising four members led by Pbt. (PA) Abdul Azim Bin Baim, was mobilised at 9.20 am using a JMC LRV vehicle.

The team arrived at the scene just five minutes later, approximately two kilometres from the operations centre. After meeting with the complainant and assessing the situation, the squad used a ladder to safely remove the dog from the drain. The operation was completed smoothly, with no injuries reported to either the personnel or the animal.

By 9.33 am, the task was fully concluded, and the team returned to PKOD Limbang, arriving at 9.45 am. The quick response and efficiency of the members demonstrated their commitment to public safety and their ability to handle diverse community complaints.

Animal rescue cases are not uncommon in Sarawak, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas where stray dogs and cats often roam freely. Such incidents can pose risks both to the animals and to residents, especially when they become trapped or injured. Emergency responders emphasise the importance of community cooperation in reporting these cases promptly to ensure safe and humane outcomes.

APM Limbang has reaffirmed its dedication to serving the public with readiness, speed, and integrity. The unit regularly responds to a wide range of emergencies, from medical cases and fire incidents to wildlife rescues. Their intervention in Kampung Nauran highlights the adaptability and professionalism of civil defence personnel in safeguarding both human and animal welfare.

Local authorities continue to encourage residents to contact emergency services rather than attempting rescues themselves, as trained personnel are equipped with the necessary tools and expertise to handle such situations safely.

Residents in Limbang are reminded that APM can be reached directly through its hotline, 085-210471, available 24 hours a day, alongside the national emergency line, 999.

The successful rescue operation underscores the importance of preparedness and swift intervention in maintaining community safety. It also reflects the strong relationship between the public and emergency responders, ensuring that assistance is delivered effectively whenever needed.
