KOTA SAMARAHAN – A significant infrastructure enhancement for public use was officially transferred to local authorities on Friday afternoon, marking the successful conclusion of renovation works well before the anticipated deadline. The handing-over ceremony for the Samarahan Hall Upgrading Project took place at 3.00 pm adjacent to the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) headquarters.
Yang Berhormat Datuk Hajah Rubiah binti Wang, who serves as both the Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development and the Member of Parliament for P.197 Kota Samarahan, officiated the event. Her presence underscored the importance of this facility within the broader regional development framework and highlighted continued federal-state collaboration on community infrastructure.
The project was executed with notable efficiency, achieving completion on 17 July 2026 despite an original target date of 30 July 2026. Construction commenced on 28 May 2026, meaning the entire scope was delivered in under eight weeks. This accelerated timeline reflects effective project management and coordinated execution amongst contractors and supervising bodies.
Funding for the RM1.5 million upgrade was provided by the Integrated Regional Samarahan Development Agency (IRSDA), whilst implementation fell under MPKS jurisdiction. This partnership model leverages specialised regional development funding alongside municipal operational expertise, creating a streamlined delivery mechanism for local infrastructure improvements.
A symbolic curtain-unveiling of the new “Samarahan Hall” signboard served as the ceremonial centrepiece of the handover.
