SARIKEI – Senior citizens attending the Sarawakku Sayang 2026 Sarikei Division Programme received Kenyalang Gold Cards (KGC) during a presentation held on 8 August 2026.
The cards were presented by Yang Berhormat Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah, Minister of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing Development, together with Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKMS) Director Tuan Haji Semawi bin Haji Mohamad.
The presentation formed part of the programme’s activities in Sarikei and provided an opportunity for senior citizens to receive the cards directly from representatives of the Sarawak Government.
The Kenyalang Gold Card is a Sarawak Government initiative aimed at supporting the wellbeing and welfare of senior citizens in the state.
Through the programme, eligible senior citizens can access various benefits and facilities offered by participating organisations and businesses.
These benefits include discounts, rebates and other facilities provided by commercial sectors taking part in the initiative.
The programme is intended to provide practical assistance to senior citizens while encouraging greater participation by businesses and service providers in supporting the state’s ageing population.
The initiative also forms part of broader efforts to prepare Sarawak’s communities for the challenges associated with an ageing society.
As the number of older people increases, initiatives focused on their welfare and participation in society are becoming an important part of community development.
The Kenyalang Gold Card provides one avenue through which senior citizens can gain access to benefits while remaining connected with services and opportunities available within the community.
The Sarawak Government has also positioned the initiative as part of efforts to encourage a caring and supportive society.
Beyond the benefits associated with the card, the programme recognises the role senior citizens continue to play in families and communities.

The presentation in Sarikei therefore highlighted both the practical benefits of the Kenyalang Gold Card and the broader importance of recognising the contribution of older members of the community.
The programme also provided a platform for senior citizens in the Sarikei Division to participate in an event focused on community wellbeing.
The presentation was attended by senior citizens taking part in the Sarawakku Sayang 2026 Sarikei Division Programme, along with officials involved in the delivery of social welfare services.
The involvement of JKMS reflects the department’s role in supporting initiatives related to social welfare and the wellbeing of senior citizens in Sarawak.
The Kenyalang Gold Card initiative is designed to complement such efforts by providing participating senior citizens with access to benefits from various sectors.
The programme also reflects an approach towards ageing that recognises older people as contributors to society rather than solely as recipients of assistance.
