SRI AMAN – Four adults were injured after a Toyota Vios left the roadside and entered a drain along the road near Kampung Punggu Tapang on the Pan Borneo Highway in Sri Aman on Sunday, 9 August 2026.
The incident was reported to the Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Station at 2.09 pm, prompting a special service response involving multiple emergency vehicles.
The vehicle was carrying four adults at the time of the accident, comprising two men and two women. When firefighters arrived at the scene, the Toyota Vios was found to have gone off the side of the road and entered a drain.
Three of the occupants had already been successfully extracted from the vehicle when the fire and rescue team arrived, although all three were reported to have sustained injuries.
A fourth occupant, a woman, remained inside the vehicle but was not trapped. The woman was seated in the rear passenger seat and was also reported to have suffered injuries.
PBK I (TBK I) Edwin Anak Jonani served as the operations commander during the emergency response.
The Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Station deployed several vehicles to the scene, including an FRT fire appliance bearing registration number BME 7039, an EMRS vehicle with registration number BMY 4446, a Toyota Hilux bearing registration number WC 5246 G and a URVAN van with registration number WUQ 7464.
Police and medical personnel were also present at the accident location to assist with the response. The police operation involved four personnel using two MPVs, while the Ministry of Health deployed six personnel and two ambulance units.
After assessing the scene, the fire and rescue team put on full personal protective equipment before providing assistance to the injured occupants.
The responding firefighters carried out an initial medical assessment and provided first aid as part of the emergency response.
A C-collar was applied to assist with the management of an injured victim before the person was moved from the vehicle area.
The team subsequently used a Junkin stretcher to move the victim to a safe location. The injured person was then handed over to Ministry of Health personnel who remained at the scene.
All four occupants were subsequently transported to Sri Aman Hospital for further medical treatment and assessment. Two Ministry of Health ambulances were used to take the four injured occupants to the hospital.
The fire and rescue team remained at the scene to ensure that the extraction and transfer process was completed safely.
The operation was concluded after the emergency response had been completed and the team confirmed that the situation at the location was safe.
The firefighters then returned to the Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Station. The incident was handled by the Alpha Team from the Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Station.
The operation report did not provide further information on the cause of the accident or the condition of the four injured occupants after they were taken to hospital. It also did not state whether any other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The response involved coordination between the Fire and Rescue Department, police and Ministry of Health personnel at the accident scene.
