KUCHING – A total of 154 recipients received various Sarawak state honours and awards at a ceremony officiated by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, today.
The Sarawak State Honours and Awards Ceremony was held at the Grand Hall of Astana Negeri Sarawak, where recipients were recognised for their service, contributions and achievements in the state.
The presentation involved several categories of state honours and medals, with recipients drawn from different fields and areas of public service.
The ceremony opened with the presentation of the Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak, Bintang Kenyalang (P.B.K), which was conferred on 12 recipients.
Among those receiving the P.B.K were Senior State Counsel at the Sarawak Attorney General’s Chambers, Mohd Adzrul Adzlan; Deputy Director of the Livestock Industry at the Sarawak Veterinary Services Department, Dr. William Rovina Nating; and Head of the Urban Development Division at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development (MUDeNR), Forkanizam Dolhadi.
The other P.B.K recipients were Dr. Nik Azim Nik Abdullah, Dr. Aini Fahriza Ibrahim, Dr. Rokayah Julaihi, Alison Buda, Knot Atok, Samai Bajan, Zaidi Sarkawi, Gerard George Entigar and Thadeus Ling Bartholomew Allu.
The ceremony then proceeded with the presentation of the Public Administration Medal, Service Medal (P.P.B), to 19 recipients.
Among those honoured in this category were Major Jeffery Ling Jalak, Associate Professor Dr. Ahmad Nizar Ya’akub, Abang Masli Abang Willie, Abang Mat Noor Abang Abdul Samat, Andrew Modol, Hardi Sapiei, Mahathir Mohammad, McWillyn Jiok, Sam Budi, Christhe Mansom and Emelia Tambi.
Several recipients were also recognised under the Most Revered Order of the Sarawak Star, Sarawak Star Member (A.B.S).
The recipients named under the A.B.S category included Muhammad Johan Ghazali, Anderson Kalang Lah, Baling Ellison Duren and Bangsawan Jahri.
Another significant part of the ceremony was the presentation of the Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak, Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (A.B.K).
A total of 21 recipients received the A.B.K, including Ahmad Nur Irfan Amirruddin, Jungan Buda, Sebastian Kaban Apong and Mellissa Ogang.
The remaining awards covered two further categories, with 42 recipients receiving the Medang Adabdirian Awam, Medang Persekutuan Terpuji (P.P.T).
A further 45 recipients were presented with the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak, Bentara Bintang Sarawak (B.B.S).
Together, the various categories accounted for all 154 recipients recognised during the state ceremony.
The awards reflect the Sarawak government’s recognition of individuals who have made contributions through their respective duties and services.
The ceremony was also attended by the wife of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
Other dignitaries present included Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Sarawak, Datuk Len Talif Salleh, and Sarawak Federal Secretary, Dato Ahmad Nadzri Mohd Hassan.
Invited guests were also present at the ceremony held at Astana Negeri Sarawak.
The presentation of the honours and awards marked a formal occasion to recognise the recipients’ respective contributions and service to Sarawak.
