Musa Aman Appointed as Sabah’s 11th Governor, Replacing Juhar

KOTA KINABALUFormer Sabah Chief Minister, Tan Sri Musa Aman, has been appointed as the 11th Governor (Yang di-Pertua Negeri) of Sabah. He will officially replace Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, whose term concludes at the end of this month.

Musa’s appointment marks a new chapter in Sabah’s leadership. He previously served as Sabah’s Chief Minister for 15 years, from 2003 to 2018, making him one of the state’s most prominent political figures.

Tun Juhar, who will step down after serving as Sabah’s longest-serving Governor, has held the position since January 1, 2011. Over the years, he served three four-year terms, with an additional two-year extension granted last year. Juhar’s leadership as the Yang di-Pertua Negeri has been recognised for its stability and dedication to Sabah’s progress.

Musa’s name had long been speculated for the prestigious post, given his significant experience and contributions to Sabah’s political landscape. Other notable figures reportedly in the running included former Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan and former Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia.

Musa Aman’s appointment is expected to bring both experience and continuity to the role. With his deep understanding of the state’s development needs, Sabahans look forward to his leadership in maintaining harmony and driving further progress.
