KUCHING, Dec 25 – Christmas Eve in Kuching was truly memorable as St Peter’s Church Padungan held its first-ever midnight mass, marking the soft launch of this architectural gem.

Overflowing with worshippers, the church showcased its capacity as a spiritual haven, welcoming more than 1,000 congregants who filled the sanctuary and spilled onto the church grounds.

The midnight mass was led by Roman Catholic Archbishop of Kuching, Simon Poh, accompanied by Rector Rev Fr Vincent Chin and Father Galvin Richard Ngumbang. Their powerful message of hope, unity, and peace deeply resonated with the faithful.

The celebration began at 11pm with the soothing harmonies of the choir, whose carols filled the air with joy. The church’s architectural elegance, illuminated by ambient lighting, drew attention to its intricate stained glass windows depicting biblical scenes in vibrant colours of ruby, emerald, and sapphire.
