KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has lauded Malaysia’s civil servants as the backbone of the nation’s administration, pledging continued support for their welfare and recognising their role in driving the country’s progress.
Speaking at the 30th Triennial Congress of the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public Service (CUEPACS) last night, Anwar expressed his “highest appreciation” to the civil service team for their dedication throughout the three years of the MADANI Government’s administration.
He highlighted the efforts of the Public Service Department (JPA) in preparing a new remuneration scheme, known as the SSPA, which aims to improve salaries and welfare for civil servants.
The Prime Minister noted that the scheme has received positive feedback from employees, describing it as a reflection of the government’s commitment to ensuring fair compensation and recognition for public service contributions.
“Our hard work over the past three years has begun to show results,” he said, pointing to Malaysia’s growing investor confidence, technological advancements, and stronger global standing.
Anwar emphasised that the government’s strength lies not only in its leadership but in the discipline, integrity, and determination of civil servants. “The increasingly excellent performance of the government today is a reflection of the strength of all civil servants,” he remarked.
As a gesture of appreciation, Anwar announced an additional RM500,000 contribution to support the launch of the congress. He underscored that Malaysia’s success is built on the persistence of civil servants working in step with national leadership to ensure continued progress.
The Prime Minister’s remarks come amid ongoing efforts to modernise Malaysia’s public service, with reforms aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and employee welfare.
Analysts note that strengthening the civil service is crucial to sustaining Malaysia’s economic growth and enhancing its competitiveness on the world stage.
The congress, attended by representatives from across the public sector, serves as a platform to discuss challenges, reforms, and future directions for Malaysia’s civil service. Anwar’s announcement is expected to boost morale and reinforce the government’s commitment to supporting its workforce.
