BINTULU – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Bintulu District successfully handled a snake-catching operation on Thursday, 7 May 2026, after receiving an emergency call from a member of the public.
The District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) was alerted to the presence of a snake inside a storehouse container. The complainant reported the reptile’s location and requested immediate assistance to ensure safety.
A team of APM officers was dispatched to the site and quickly assessed the situation. Using the pincer technique, the personnel managed to capture the snake without incident.
The reptile was identified as an axe, estimated to be around half a metre in length. The operation was carried out efficiently, with no injuries or damage reported.
The swift response ensured that the storehouse and surrounding area were secured, preventing potential risks to residents and workers nearby.
APM Bintulu emphasised its readiness to respond to wildlife-related emergencies, highlighting the importance of community cooperation in reporting such cases.
Officials reminded the public that snakes and other wildlife can pose dangers when they enter residential or commercial areas, and professional intervention is necessary to handle them safely.
