The incident involved weakness of the limbs, swelling in the toes and hands, and suspected stroke symptoms.

The Lundu District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) confirmed receiving the emergency call from a member of the public, who reported that her husband was in urgent need of medical assistance.

The Civil Defence Force (APM) in Lundu immediately dispatched an ambulance to the scene, reflecting its commitment to rapid intervention in critical health cases.

Officials explained that the patient’s condition required immediate evaluation, and he was transferred to hospital for further treatment. While details of his medical status remain limited, the swift response ensured that he received timely care.

This incident follows several recent emergency cases in the Lundu and Sematan districts, where APM teams have been called upon to handle urgent medical situations.

In mid-June, responders assisted an unconscious patient in Sematan, administering oxygen before transferring the individual to Lundu Hospital. Another case earlier in May involved chest pain and limb weakness, which was also managed promptly by APM personnel.

Authorities emphasised that these operations highlight the importance of community vigilance and rapid reporting.

Residents are urged to contact emergency services without delay when faced with serious health concerns, as early intervention can significantly improve outcomes.

The Civil Defence Force continues to operate under its guiding principle of “Ready, Fast & With Integrity”, underscoring its dedication to professionalism and public safety.

District-level coordination centres such as PKOD play a vital role in ensuring resources are deployed effectively, particularly in rural areas where access to immediate medical care can be limited.

Local officials have reminded the public that emergency services are available around the clock. For urgent cases, residents in Lundu and Sematan can reach the Civil Defence Force at 082711292.

As Sarawak strengthens its emergency response framework, incidents such as this demonstrate the value of collaboration between local communities, district centres, and frontline personnel.

The case serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of health emergencies and the need for preparedness at both community and institutional levels.
