The incident was reported to the District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) Mukah, prompting immediate deployment of personnel to the site.

Upon inspection, responders discovered a wasp nest about the size of an adult’s palm attached to a branch of a rumbia tree. The team used a combination of Ridsect spray and controlled fire techniques to eliminate the nest.

The operation was conducted in a safe and controlled manner, ensuring that no injuries or damage occurred. The mission concluded smoothly, with the nest fully destroyed.

Wasp nests are considered hazardous, particularly in residential and school areas, as their stings can cause severe allergic reactions in some individuals.

Emergency responders often stress the importance of reporting such sightings promptly to prevent accidents.

APM Mukah has reaffirmed its readiness to respond to insect-related threats, highlighting its role in safeguarding communities from environmental hazards.

The unit continues to encourage public cooperation, reminding residents that swift reporting allows teams to act quickly and effectively.

Local authorities have also advised residents to remain vigilant, particularly during the dry season when insect activity tends to increase.

Preventive measures such as clearing vegetation and monitoring high-risk areas like water tanks, trees, and storage facilities are recommended to reduce the likelihood of nests forming near homes.

The successful operation reflects the professionalism and preparedness of APM Mukah. Their ability to act quickly and safely demonstrates the importance of trained personnel in maintaining public safety across Sarawak.

Residents are reminded that APM Mukah can be contacted directly in the event of emergencies. The district hotline, 084-872814, is available 24 hours a day, alongside the national emergency line, 999.

As Sarawak continues to strengthen its emergency response systems, the cooperation between communities and civil defence teams remains crucial.

The Mukah case highlights how preparedness and swift intervention can prevent potential harm, reinforcing public confidence in the state’s emergency services.
