SIBU – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Sibu District acted promptly on Sunday evening after receiving an emergency call regarding a suspected stroke case at Jalan Wong Ting Hock.
The alert was made at 7.07pm by members of the public, prompting immediate deployment of a response team to the residence. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim lying in bed, attended by family members.
Initial medical checks were carried out at the scene before the patient was transferred to hospital for further treatment. Throughout the journey, the individual remained in stable condition, according to APM officers.
The incident highlights the importance of rapid intervention in suspected stroke cases. Medical experts often stress that early treatment can significantly reduce long-term complications, making swift emergency response critical.
APM Sibu reaffirmed its commitment to providing emergency assistance to the community. The district office reminded residents to contact the emergency line without delay in any situation involving health or safety risks.
Stroke remains one of the leading causes of disability in Malaysia, with the Ministry of Health consistently urging the public to recognise early warning signs such as sudden weakness, speech difficulties, or loss of balance. Community awareness and timely reporting are seen as vital in improving survival rates.
Local authorities continue to encourage residents to remain vigilant and proactive. The latest case at Jalan Wong Ting Hock demonstrates how coordinated action between the public and emergency services can make a crucial difference.
