ASAJAYA – The Asajaya District has taken a proactive step in combating drug abuse with the establishment of the Asajaya District Anti-Drug Squad.
The initiative, announced on 22 June 2026, is the result of close cooperation between the Asajaya District Office, the Samarahan District National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), and community stakeholders.
The squad was formed to expand community involvement in drug prevention efforts through education, awareness, advocacy, and volunteerism.
District leaders emphasised that the initiative reflects a strong commitment to building a safer and healthier community free from the threat of drugs.
The establishment meeting was chaired by Asajaya District Officer Tuan Jerry Zanuddin Bin Bidin, who highlighted that drug prevention is a shared responsibility requiring cooperation across all levels of society.
He explained that the squad will serve as the driving force at the community level, delivering prevention messages and organising continuous awareness programmes.
Members of the squad are expected to act as agents of change by supporting education activities, awareness campaigns, and community programmes.
Their role will be to increase public understanding of the dangers of drug abuse and encourage collective action against addiction.
The Samarahan District AADK pledged its support, offering guidance and resources to ensure the squad’s programmes are implemented effectively.
This collaboration between AADK, the Asajaya District Office, and local communities is seen as a strategic move to strengthen resilience against drug threats.
With the creation of the squad, Asajaya now has a structured platform to mobilise volunteers and community leaders in advancing the drug prevention agenda.
