KUCHING – A special documentary entitled “Aspirasi”, highlighting the life journey and contributions of Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, was officially launched on Friday in a ceremony at the Sarawak State Palace.
The 12-minute production, organised by the Office of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, traces Tun Pehin Sri’s path from his early years to his appointment as Head of State.
It captures his struggles, perseverance, and dedication to Sarawak’s development, offering viewers a glimpse into both his personal and professional journey.
The launch was officiated by Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah, Minister of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing.
She described the documentary as a “golden bridge of history” that allows younger generations to understand the significance of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri institution within the framework of the State Constitution.
“Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi is a reflection of the best values of Sarawakians – the patience of a statesman, the wisdom of a leader, and the spirit of unwavering unity,” she said, adding that the documentary also highlights his role as a unifying figure for all races and religions in the state.
In his welcoming remarks, Dato Sri Syed Hamzah Syed Paie, Senior Private Secretary to the Head of State, conveyed Tun Pehin Sri’s appreciation to all parties involved in the production.
He extended special thanks to Dato Sri Fatimah for officiating the launch and to Datu Hamdan Sharbini, Director of the Sarawak Protocol, Ceremonies and Event Management Unit, for his commitment to the project.
Dato Sri Syed Hamzah, who has served alongside Tun Pehin Sri for 24 years, praised his determination and firm leadership style, describing it as a strong motivator for his team.
He expressed hope that the documentary would inspire civil servants to continue supporting the Head of State in advancing Sarawak’s progress.
The documentary was produced with the involvement of FINAS, 21 Ways Production, and other contributors, ensuring high technical standards and quality.
It will be broadcast to the public starting at 4.30 pm via the official Facebook page of Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and the official YouTube channel of TYT Sarawak.
The launch ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Dato Sri Syed Hamzah and Datu Hamdan Sharbini, alongside members of the mosque committee and invited guests.
The event underscored the importance of documenting leadership legacies as a source of inspiration for future generations.
