Astana Sarawak Honours Four Retiring Officers for Decades of Service

KUCHING – The Office of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak held its 2024/2025 Retirement Appreciation Ceremony at the Dewan Santapan, Astana Sarawak, on Tuesday to honour four long-serving officers who have completed their service with dedication and integrity.

The event recognised the retirees’ decades of contribution to the state, federal, and Astana civil services. It began with a welcoming address by Mr Ahmad Faizuan bin Hazemi, Chairman of the Ceremony, followed by a prayer led by Mr Mohd Al-Hafis bin Puairi, Assistant Administrative Officer of Astana Sarawak.

The highlight of the ceremony was a message of appreciation delivered by Dato’ Sri Haji Syed Hamzah bin Syed Paie, Senior Private Secretary to His Excellency, on behalf of the Astana leadership.

He expressed gratitude for the retirees’ sacrifices and sincerity throughout their careers, noting that their service had been instrumental in upholding the integrity of the institution.

“This verse reminds us to always be sincere in every trust and service carried out. Make service at Astana an act of worship, and may this spirit be a guide for all employees,” he said, quoting verses 7 and 8 from Surah Al-Zalzalah to emphasise the importance of sincerity and accountability in public service.

The four retirees celebrated were:

  • Sergeant Duraman bin Salmang, Motorcycle Escort to His Excellency, Traffic Division (2008–2025)
  • SI Saudi bin Boll, Motorcycle Escort to His Excellency, Traffic Division (2005–2025)
  • Puan Haslina binti Abdul Latif, Secretary of Office N6 (1990–2025)
  • Sergeant Dalusin bin Samat, Pegiring Rapat kepada Tuan Yang Terutama (2006–2024)

Together, they contributed more than three decades of service each, ensuring the smooth running of official duties and the security of the Astana institution.

Also in attendance were Tuan Haji Junih bin Salleh Ahmad, Private Secretary to His Excellency; Tuan Samuel anak Simon, Senior Press Secretary; Supt. Haji Hamka bin Mohammad, Escort to His Excellency; Encik Roni anak Ah Hin, Head of Management Services Division; and DSP Haroadi bin Haji Wasli, Head of Astana Sarawak Security Unit.

Dato’ Sri Syed Hamzah reminded current officers to emulate the retirees’ example by upholding discipline, honesty, and responsibility in their work.

He stressed that public service requires patience, trust, and efficiency, urging staff to continue serving with sincerity and integrity to preserve the good name of Astana Sarawak.

The ceremony also served as a platform to strengthen camaraderie among Astana employees, while acknowledging the loyalty and discipline of those who have retired.

The event concluded with a symbolic poem of gratitude, reflecting the appreciation for the retirees’ lifelong service.
