LUBOK ANTU – The Sarawak State Important Target Safety Inspection Sub-Committee (JKPKSP) conducted a comprehensive safety inspection at the Batang Ai Hydroelectric Power Station in Sri Aman on 22 June 2026.
The exercise was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and operational standards at critical infrastructure sites across the state.
The inspection was led by Mr Zainor bin Zailan, State Director of the Sarawak State Chief Government Security Office (CGSO).
He was joined by Mr Mike Palmer Anak Fankie Riya and other JKPKSP members, including representatives from the Sarawak State National Security Council (MKN) and the Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK).
Officials from the Sarawak Federal Secretary’s Office, the Sri Aman Resident’s Office, the State Control and Enforcement Unit, and the Lubok Antu District Police also participated in the visit, reflecting the multi-agency approach to safeguarding vital installations.
The inspection aimed to evaluate existing safety measures, identify potential risks, and recommend improvements to ensure the facility continues to operate securely.
The Batang Ai Hydroelectric Power Station, a key energy source for Sarawak, is considered an important target installation due to its role in powering communities and supporting economic activities.
Authorities highlighted that maintaining high safety standards at such facilities is crucial, not only for operational reliability but also for public confidence.
The inspection underscored the importance of collaboration between state and federal agencies in monitoring and protecting strategic assets.
The CGSO Sarawak noted that the visit was part of a broader initiative to enhance preparedness and resilience at critical sites.
By conducting regular inspections, the state aims to ensure that infrastructure remains safeguarded against potential threats while continuing to serve the needs of the population.
This latest inspection reflects Sarawak’s commitment to prioritising safety and security at installations deemed vital to the state’s development.
