BAU – Four men have been taken into custody following a coordinated anti-narcotics operation conducted by the Bau District Police Headquarters in the early hours of 29 July 2026.
The integrated crime prevention and arrest warrant operation targeted specific areas within the district, resulting in the detention of individuals suspected of involvement in drug abuse and trafficking.
The operation, which ran from approximately 7:00 am to 10:00 am, focused on three villages: Pangkalan, Opar, and Skibang.
Officers from the Narcotic Criminal Investigation Division worked in tandem with personnel from the main Bau District Police Office to execute the raids.
This collaborative effort aimed to disrupt local drug networks and remove active users from the community, thereby enhancing public safety and order.
During the searches, police arrested four male suspects aged between sixteen and thirty-one years old. All four individuals underwent initial urine screening tests, which returned positive results for drug presence. Consequently, they were arrested under various sections of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

One of the suspects was found in possession of a small white transparent plastic packet containing crystalline substances suspected to be syabu, a common form of methamphetamine.
Due to this discovery, the individual faces additional charges under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which pertains to the possession of controlled drugs.
This charge carries significant legal weight and reflects the seriousness with which authorities treat even small quantities of illicit substances.
Among those detained, one suspect was identified as a minor. In accordance with legal protocols regarding juvenile offenders, this sixteen-year-old will be handed over to the National Anti-Crime Agency (NACA) in Kuching for further processing and rehabilitation.

The Bau District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Haide Bin A. Rahman, issued a statement confirming the arrests and emphasising the zero-tolerance stance of the Royal Malaysia Police towards drug-related crimes.
