BAU – Police in Bau inspected 23 vehicles and 27 individuals during a traffic enforcement operation across the district on November 3, 2026, resulting in the issuance of five traffic summonses for various offences.

The operation was carried out by the District Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPTD) of the Bau District Police Headquarters (IPD Bau), with patrols and monitoring activities conducted along several major roads.

The routes covered included Bau-Kuching, Bau-Serikin, Bau-Batu Kawa and Bau-Lundu, as well as areas within Bau town.

According to the police, the enforcement exercise was aimed at reducing road accident risks, improving compliance with traffic regulations and addressing offences that could endanger other road users.

During the operation, officers checked a total of 23 vehicles and 27 individuals. Five traffic summonses, issued using the PDRM (K) 170A form, were recorded for various traffic violations.

Police reported that the operation proceeded smoothly under favourable weather conditions.

The enforcement exercise forms part of ongoing efforts by the Bau District Police to monitor road conditions and encourage motorists to comply with traffic laws, particularly along routes connecting Bau with neighbouring areas.

In its advisory to road users, the BSPTD emphasised that traffic enforcement serves purposes beyond issuing summonses, including raising awareness and encouraging responsible behaviour among motorists.

Road users were reminded to obey traffic signals, maintain appropriate driving practices and avoid using mobile phones while operating vehicles.

Motorists were also advised to ensure their vehicles remain in safe and roadworthy condition and comply with relevant legal requirements before travelling.

Police highlighted that road safety requires consistent attention from all road users, rather than relying solely on enforcement measures or responding after an accident has occurred.

Drivers were encouraged to remain alert, exercise patience and take personal responsibility for their actions on the road. Observing traffic regulations and adopting safe driving habits can help reduce the risks of collisions and protect other motorists, passengers and pedestrians.

The reminder is particularly relevant along the major routes monitored during the operation, where responsible driving and compliance with road regulations remain important for the safety of everyone using the roads.

The BSPTD of IPD Bau said it would continue conducting patrols, traffic monitoring and enforcement activities throughout the district as part of its efforts to safeguard road users.

The police also reiterated the importance of public cooperation in creating safer roads, stressing that preventing accidents requires a shared commitment from motorists and other road users.

Motorists travelling within Bau and along connecting routes are urged to follow traffic regulations, avoid dangerous driving behaviour and ensure their vehicles are fit for the road.

Police stressed that the objective of the ongoing operations is to promote safer journeys and encourage greater discipline among road users throughout the district. — Sarawak Daily
