Farm Road Upgrade in Nanga Tiga Layar Improves Access for Farmers

SPAOH – A farm road serving agricultural areas in Nanga Tiga Layar, Betong, has been upgraded under the Betong Divisional Development Agency (BDDA) programme, improving access for residents travelling to rubber plantations and other crop areas.

The project, which began on 1 December 2025, was completed on 31 July 2026 after eight months of work.

The completion provides residents with an improved route for travelling between their communities and agricultural areas.

The upgrading project covers the farm road used by residents of DUN N.37 Bukit Saban, where rubber and other crops are cultivated.

The improved route is intended to provide safer and more comfortable travel for people who rely on the road as part of their agricultural activities.

Farm roads play an important role in connecting rural agricultural areas with the wider transport network. For residents working in plantations and crop areas, road conditions can affect how easily they travel to and from their farms and move agricultural products out of production areas.

With the work completed, residents in the affected area now have improved road facilities for their day-to-day agricultural activities.

The upgraded route is also expected to make it easier for vehicles to reach the farming areas and transport produce onwards.

Better access can be particularly important during the movement of agricultural produce from farms to collection centres and markets.

A more usable road can support this movement by providing a more practical route for vehicles carrying crops from rural production areas.

The project is therefore expected to have benefits beyond daily travel. Improved connectivity between agricultural areas and collection or market points can help reduce transport difficulties faced by rural communities and support the movement of locally produced goods.

The development also forms part of broader efforts to improve infrastructure serving communities in rural areas.

In this case, the road upgrade is directly linked to agricultural activity in Nanga Tiga Layar and is intended to strengthen access to areas where rubber and other crops are produced.

The completion of the project is also expected to support local agricultural productivity by reducing access constraints.

Easier movement to and from agricultural areas can help residents carry out routine activities associated with farming and the transportation of produce.

The upgraded road may also provide a foundation for further economic activity within the surrounding rural community.

Improved infrastructure can make agricultural areas more accessible while supporting existing activities that depend on reliable road connections.

For residents of DUN N.37 Bukit Saban who use the route, the completed works represent an improvement to an important link between their communities and agricultural land.

The project was delivered within the scheduled eight-month implementation period, with completion recorded on 31 July 2026.

The Nanga Tiga Layar road upgrade highlights the role of local infrastructure in supporting rural agriculture, particularly where communities depend on road access to reach plantations, move produce and maintain their daily economic activities.
