SIBU – In celebration of Father’s Day, the Bukit Assek Service Centre has launched a Milo distribution programme in collaboration with 15 Village Development and Safety Committees (JKKKs) across the constituency, running from 2 to 17 August 2025.
The programme, held at the Bukit Assek Service Centre on Saturday, saw an enthusiastic turnout of 825 people on the first day alone. Among the guests were Bukit Assek ADUN Joseph Chieng Jin Ek, SUPP Bukit Assek Chairman Dato Chieng Buong Toon, and Captain Wong Lu Ping.
This year, the initiative aims to distribute 2,500 packs of Milo (900g each), an increase from 2,000 packs last year.
“Although the packaging has changed from 1kg to 900g, the price remains the same, and the value is still significant,” said Chieng.
By the end of the first hour, 250 Milo packs had already been distributed – a sign of the programme’s popularity among the local community.
Chieng also addressed requests from women for inclusion in the programme. He clarified that women had earlier received 2kg cooking oil in celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, showing a balanced approach to community-focused welfare.
“Close cooperation between the Service Centre and JKKKs is crucial to ensure the success of programmes like this. It also helps strengthen communication with residents,” he added.
The ADUN highlighted a noticeable increase in new faces compared to last year, signalling improved community outreach and growing engagement.
Chieng further noted that the upcoming 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13) will be pivotal for Sibu’s development, with proposals including the construction of new link roads, especially to benefit residents in the 100 Citizen’s State area.
The Father’s Day Milo distribution programme continues daily from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM until 17 August 2025. Local residents who have not yet collected their packs are encouraged to attend.
