Community Fire Programme Boosts Preparedness in Batu Danau, RM5,000 Allocation Announced

LIMBANG – Fire preparedness and community awareness were further strengthened through the Community Fire Programme, Fire Point and Fire Safety Campaign held at the Limpasong Village Hall on Saturday.

The programme, organised by the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department Zone 7 Office in collaboration with the Batu Danau State Assemblyman’s Office, saw the participation of residents from 12 surrounding villages.

Batu Danau State Assemblyman Dato Paulus Palu Gumbang stressed that fire prevention must be viewed as a collective responsibility.

“Every individual, family and community has an important role. Practices such as ensuring that fire hydrants are in good condition, the installation of complete safety equipment, as well as preventive measures such as good housekeeping can significantly reduce the risk of fire,” he said in his speech.

To support the initiative, Dato Paulus announced an allocation of RM5,000 aimed at enhancing the programme’s implementation, expanding its outreach to more communities, and promoting systematic fire safety practices.

The event featured fire safety talks, briefings and live demonstrations. It also introduced the establishment of a Community Fire Team, tasked with strengthening residents’ preparedness, monitoring safety, and providing early response in emergency situations.
