Kuching Hokkien Association Launches 26 New Shop Lots for Leasing

KUCHING (Dec 11) – The Kuching Hokkien Association has unveiled its long-awaited commercial shop lot project at Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, marking a significant milestone in its efforts to contribute to local economic growth.

This ambitious development, completed in collaboration with Bina Puri Properties Sdn Bhd, introduces 26 new commercial units to the heart of Kuching. The project is set to provide business opportunities for the local community, particularly those near the Sarawak General Hospital.

Dato Richard Wee, president of the Kuching Hokkien Association, highlighted that income generated from the shop lots will be channeled into future sustainable initiatives and community services.

“The project began with an agreement signed in November 2013. Its completion reflects a decade of meticulous planning and collaboration with government bodies such as the Sarawak planning authorities, the Land and Survey Department, and local councils,” he said during the project’s handover ceremony.

The transformation of previously unused cemetery land into a vibrant commercial hub underscores the association’s commitment to innovation and aligns with Sarawak’s forward-thinking economic strategies.

The association expressed heartfelt thanks to Bina Puri Properties for their professional execution and government agencies for their steadfast support. Wee also extended special gratitude to Bina Puri Properties deputy chairman Tan Sri Datuk Tee Hock Seng for his trust in the association’s leadership.

The symbolic handover of keys was witnessed by Bina Puri Properties group managing director Kelvin Chai Chan Tong and the association’s deputy chairman Michael Teo.

The Kuching Hokkien Association is now inviting interested tenants to lease the newly launched shop lots.
