Malaysia and Russia Mark Six Decades of Diplomatic Ties

MOSCOW – Malaysia and the Russian Federation are set to celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations in 2027, marking a significant milestone in the partnership between the two nations.

His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, emphasised that cooperation between Malaysia and Russia has steadily strengthened since 1967, evolving into a productive and enduring relationship.

He noted that the upcoming Diamond Jubilee celebration will serve as a meaningful recognition of the progress achieved over six decades.

“The long journey we have travelled together and the significant achievements in Malaysia-Russian Federation relations deserve to be celebrated through a meaningful and historic celebration,” His Majesty said during a meeting with President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on 9 May.

Earlier this year, Sultan Ibrahim met President Putin in St Petersburg, where discussions were held in a constructive atmosphere.
