Missing Student Found in London, Police Confirm International Sighting

Missing Student Found in London, Police Confirm International Sighting

LIMBANG, 8 May — A private college student who had been reported missing since last Saturday has now been confirmed to be in London, according to a statement from the Limbang District Police.

The 24-year-old woman, Cathilyenn Santa Liong Siu Zhen, was last seen at Horizon Suites in Selangor before all contact with her family was lost. However, the mystery of her sudden disappearance took a turn after closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) showed her boarding a flight bound for the United Kingdom.

Limbang District Police Chief, Superintendent Parum Niot, confirmed the sighting and stated that the police are now working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Malaysian Embassy in London to gather more information and locate her exact whereabouts.

“Yes, we confirm that Cathilyenn is currently in London, after being spotted on CCTV at KLIA before departing. We are working with the relevant authorities overseas to assist in tracking her down,” he said during a media briefing earlier today.

Despite this breakthrough, authorities are still trying to determine the status and location of Muhamad Izzat Asnawai, 21, a male friend believed to have travelled with Cathilyenn to Kuala Lumpur. His whereabouts remain unknown at this time.

Superintendent Parum also issued a caution to Malaysian youth, urging them to be wary of suspicious overseas job offers.

“Before accepting any overseas work, always check with the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and the Department of Manpower to verify the legitimacy of the job and agent,” he added.

Family members of both individuals are still anxiously seeking their return and have appealed to the public and authorities for help. The incident previously went viral on social media, sparking concern among netizens nationwide.

Two police reports have been lodged in connection with the disappearance, and investigations are ongoing.
