LIMBANG – Over 2,000 visitors attended the opening ceremony of the Northern Region Music Festival (NRMF) 2025 at Lot 777 parking area, Bandar Limbang, celebrating the music and cultural heritage of northern Sarawak.

Organised by RTM Limbang in partnership with local stakeholders, the festival aims to promote ethnic arts, cultural diversity, and traditional music across the region.
In a speech delivered by Lawas Member of Parliament Dato Henry Sum Agong, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan commended RTM Sarawak for successfully elevating the festival as a platform to showcase northern Sarawak’s artistic heritage.
“The NRMF programme is also an annual event included in the Limbang Division’s activity calendar. It highlights culture, race, and musical diversity while taking the artistic heritage of northern Sarawak to a higher level,” the Deputy Premier said.

The opening night featured dynamic performances, including singing by guest artists Bob Yusof, Mawat, and Rosiana Urai, alongside cultural dances representing Limbang’s seven main ethnic groups: Malay, Kedayan, Chinese, Iban, Bisaya, Lun Bawang, and Tagal Okolod.
Running from 15 to 17 August 2025, the three-day festival will also include handicraft markets, exhibitions by government agencies and NGOs, health screenings, and folk entertainment stages, offering a variety of cultural experiences for visitors of all ages.
NRMF 2025 underscores Sarawak’s commitment to preserving its diverse cultural traditions while engaging communities through music, arts, and interactive activities.
