BETONG – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, together with Yang Amat Berbahagia Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajjah Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, has completed a two-day official programme in Betong Division held in conjunction with the Official Birthday Celebration of His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong XVII at the Sarawak level for 2026.
The visit, which took place over the weekend, was marked by a series of ceremonial and community-centred events designed to highlight the significance of the constitutional monarchy in Malaysia.
The institution is widely regarded as a cornerstone of national unity, stability, and sovereignty, and the presence of the governor underscored its enduring role in Sarawak’s governance and cultural identity.
Throughout their stay, Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan attended multiple programmes organised by the Betong Division administration and the Main Celebration Committee.
These included official gatherings, cultural showcases, and community engagements aimed at strengthening ties between leaders and residents.
The events provided opportunities for the dignitaries to interact directly with people from diverse backgrounds, reflecting the inclusive spirit of the celebration.
Before departing, a prayer was led by Ustaz Mohd Rezuan bin Zulkipli, Assistant Islamic Affairs Officer of Betong Division, marking the conclusion of the official itinerary.
The solemn moment added a spiritual dimension to the proceedings, reinforcing the cultural and religious harmony that characterises Sarawak’s social fabric.
Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan expressed their gratitude to local leaders, government agencies, security forces, and community members for their dedication in ensuring the smooth execution of the programmes.
Their appreciation extended to the residents of Betong, whose cooperation and hospitality contributed to the success of the visit.
The official tour also highlighted the collaborative efforts of government departments, non-governmental organisations, and grassroots communities in organising the celebration.
This collective spirit was evident in the seamless coordination of events, showcasing Sarawak’s commitment to unity and shared responsibility in commemorating national milestones.
Observers noted that the visit not only honoured the royal occasion but also reinforced the bond between the state leadership and the people.
By engaging directly with the community, the governor and Toh Puan demonstrated the importance of accessibility and mutual respect in fostering trust and solidarity.
The Betong visit, therefore, served as both a ceremonial duty and a meaningful gesture of connection, reflecting Sarawak’s broader vision of inclusivity and resilience in the modern era.
