KUCHING – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, arrived safely at Kuching International Airport on 10 May following their official engagements in Kuala Lumpur.
The couple landed at the Hornbill Skyways Terminal at 12.30 pm, marking the conclusion of a series of events in the capital.
Their arrival was warmly received by senior officials, including Tuan Haji Junih bin Salleh Ahmad, private secretary to the Sarawak governor, and Tuan Samuel Simon, senior press secretary, alongside representatives from Astana Sarawak. The welcoming party reflected the significance of the governor’s role and the respect accorded to his office.
During their time in Kuala Lumpur, Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan attended several functions that underscored Sarawak’s ongoing engagement with national institutions and communities.
Among these was a breakfast meeting with former officials, where discussions centred on development, education, and land matters.
The governor emphasised the importance of maintaining strong ties and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to share perspectives on current issues.
The visit also included cultural and academic highlights. Earlier in the week, the governor and Toh Puan were presented with the official registration certificate of the orchid Phalaenopsis Empress Fauziah, a hybrid named in honour of Toh Puan, by Universiti Tun Abdul Razak.
The gesture symbolised collaboration between Sarawak’s and Malaysia’s higher education sectors, reinforcing the Governor’s commitment to nurturing partnerships that benefit future generations.
In his remarks upon returning to Kuching, Tun Pehin Sri expressed gratitude for the smooth execution of each event and extended appreciation to all parties involved in ensuring the success of the visit.
Toh Puan echoed these sentiments, acknowledging the efforts of organisers and participants who contributed to the positive outcomes.
The Governor’s recent engagements highlight his active role in strengthening Sarawak’s presence at the national level while reinforcing values of unity, respect, and progress.
His leadership continues to emphasise the importance of dialogue, cultural recognition, and educational collaboration as pillars of development.
As Sarawak looks ahead to upcoming celebrations and initiatives, the governor’s return to Kuching signals continuity in his commitment to fostering community ties and advancing the state’s interests within Malaysia.
