KUCHING – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, carried out a personal inspection of their residence at Jalan Green, Kuching, on 8 June.
The visit was intended to assess the condition of the property and reconnect with a home that holds deep family memories.
The couple reviewed the physical structure of the house, paying attention to maintenance and the surrounding landscape.
Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi also took time to speak with those responsible for the upkeep of the residence, ensuring that the compound and its greenery were well managed.
The inspection included a look at the fruit trees and plants that have long been part of the property’s environment.
Toh Puan Fauziah, meanwhile, engaged in leisure activities during the visit, including feeding pet fish within the compound.
Her presence added a lighter, personal touch to the occasion, reflecting the couple’s appreciation for the simple aspects of home life.
The atmosphere of the visit was described as calm and reflective. For the governor and his wife, the residence represents more than just a physical structure; it is a place tied to family values and cherished memories.
Their decision to spend time at the property underscores the importance of maintaining personal spaces alongside official duties.
Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi, who assumed office as the eighth Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak in January 2024, has had a long career in public service.
Prior to his appointment, he served as a Member of Parliament for Santubong and Batang Lupar and held ministerial positions including Minister of Natural Resources and Environment and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department overseeing Parliament and Law.
His leadership has been marked by a focus on governance, legal reforms, and community development.
Toh Puan Fauziah, who married Wan Junaidi in 2022, has also been active in public life. She previously worked as a flight attendant and has often shared her interests in cooking and leisure activities.
Her role as the governor’s spouse has seen her participate in cultural and community events, adding a supportive dimension to his tenure.
The Jalan Green residence, though private, remains significant in the couple’s lives. Their recent visit highlights the balance between official responsibilities and personal commitments, offering a glimpse into the human side of Sarawak’s leadership.
It also reflects the governor’s continued connection to Kuching, a city central to his political and personal journey.
