MIRI – His Excellency the Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with Her Excellency Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajjah Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, enjoyed a luncheon at Muara Restaurant during their official visit to Miri Division on 16 June.
The couple was warmly received by the restaurant’s proprietor, Mr Zainal Muhi, who extended his hospitality to the distinguished guests.
The visit to Muara Restaurant formed part of their itinerary following their arrival in Miri earlier in the day for the state-level Ma’al Hijrah celebration.
Joining the Governor and Toh Puan were several notable figures. Among them was YB Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman bin Junaidi, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department, accompanied by his wife, YBhg. Datin Hajah Siti Shorgayah binti Ahmad Zaidin.
Also present was YDH Superintendent Mohd Syafiq Jinuin Abdullah, Deputy Chief of Police of Miri District, alongside their daughter, Puan Hajah Sharifah Fariah.
The luncheon was further attended by YBhg. Dato Sri Talat Mahmood bin Abdul Rashid, former Attorney General of Sarawak, together with his wife, YBhg. Datin Sri Professor Norbani Mohamed Nazeri.
Their presence added to the distinguished company gathered for the occasion. Muara Restaurant is widely recognised for its signature Nasi Lalapan, a traditional dish served with fresh accompaniments and its renowned spicy sambal belacan.
The establishment has become a popular culinary destination for both local families and international visitors, often regarded as a must-visit eatery in Miri.
During the visit, Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan expressed appreciation to the restaurant owner and staff for their warm service and the quality of the meal.
They conveyed gratitude for the hospitality extended, noting the restaurant’s reputation for authentic flavours and welcoming atmosphere.
The governor’s luncheon at Muara Restaurant highlights the importance of local establishments in showcasing Sarawak’s culinary heritage.
