KUCHING – The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) Sarawak convened its Top Management Meeting (MPT) Number 03 for the year 2026 today at the UTC Kuching Meeting Room. The session was chaired by the Sarawak State Immigration Director, YBrs Tuan Haji Abdul Halim bin Abang Naili, and brought together senior leadership from across the state.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Director of Immigration Sarawak (Management), YBrs Puan Roslinda Hanim binti Mohd Yusoff, and Deputy Director of Immigration Sarawak (Control), YBrs Puan Norhafiza binti Junaidi. Senior officers from various divisions across Sarawak also participated, reflecting the department’s commitment to strengthening coordination and integrated governance.
Central to the agenda was a comprehensive review of current immigration issues affecting Sarawak. Discussions focused on the progress of development projects at Immigration offices throughout the state, with emphasis on improving service delivery and operational efficiency. The meeting also highlighted the importance of monitoring enforcement operations to curb the rising entry of undocumented migrants.
The department reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring that immigration laws are upheld consistently across Sarawak. Officials stressed that enforcement activities must remain proactive, particularly in addressing challenges posed by illegal immigrants. This includes strengthening border control measures, enhancing inspection procedures, and ensuring that enforcement teams are adequately supported.
Beyond enforcement, the meeting also examined administrative improvements aimed at modernising immigration services. The leadership discussed strategies to streamline processes, reduce waiting times, and improve accessibility for the public. These measures are part of ongoing efforts to align Sarawak’s immigration services with national standards while addressing local needs.
The gathering underscored the importance of collaboration among officers at all levels. By involving senior representatives from across Sarawak, the department aims to ensure that policies and operational strategies are implemented uniformly. This approach is expected to enhance efficiency and foster greater accountability within the organisation.
Officials noted that immigration challenges in Sarawak are complex, given the state’s geographical position and cross-border movements. The department’s leadership emphasised that continuous monitoring and enforcement are essential to safeguard national security and maintain social stability.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to intensify enforcement operations and strengthen governance structures. The department pledged to continue working closely with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure that immigration management in Sarawak remains robust, transparent, and effective.
