BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – The Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) has brought Sarawak’s sustainable timber and furniture innovations to Brunei, participating in the 33rd Consumer Fair and Trade Expo (CFTE) at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.
The event, which runs until 28 June 2026, is regarded as one of Brunei’s largest trade showcases, featuring more than 700 booths and international pavilions.
STIDC’s presence highlights Sarawak’s growing timber sector, with a particular emphasis on high-value furniture and downstream wood products.
The corporation is using the platform to strengthen regional ties and promote sustainable practices within the industry.
Industrial Development Manager Lundy Joe Sibat described the expo as a vital opportunity to engage with neighbouring markets.
“Being here at the 33rd CFTE is a fantastic opportunity for us to connect face-to-face with our regional neighbours and partners. Brunei is an incredibly valued market for Sarawak,” he said.
He added that the exhibition is not only about product display but also about sharing the story of innovation and sustainability driving Sarawak’s timber industry.
STIDC’s showcase includes contributions from several Sarawak-based companies such as Kayusar Sdn Bhd, Solo Timber Sdn Bhd, Brown Two Furniture and Hap Lee Fun Enterprise. Their participation reflects the diversity and craftsmanship of Sarawak’s furniture sector.
The CFTE was officiated by Brunei’s Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Tutiaty Binti Haji Abdul Wahab.
Organisers emphasised that the fair is more than a consumer event, serving as a platform for networking, collaboration and market expansion.
Ms Ting Chul San, Head of Corporate Communications at D’Sunlit Sdn Bhd, noted that the expo creates opportunities for businesses to connect with consumers while fostering economic growth.
Beyond the exhibition, STIDC is also promoting investment opportunities in Sarawak’s Tanjung Manis economic zone.
Lundy highlighted the area’s potential, pointing to ongoing developments such as furniture parks, deep-water port facilities and township expansion.
These initiatives are designed to boost downstream industries, aquaculture and halal production while increasing export value.
“We highly encourage international investors to look closely at the incredible possibilities Tanjung Manis has to offer,” he said, stressing the zone’s strategic location and infrastructure readiness.
The STIDC pavilion at the expo offers visitors a closer look at Sarawak’s craftsmanship, modern design and sustainable approaches.
Business-matching sessions are being held throughout the five-day event, enabling enterprises to explore long-term partnerships.
The CFTE continues to attract strong regional interest, positioning Brunei as a hub for trade and consumer engagement.
