KAPIT (June 11) – The Public Works Department (JKR) has announced the closure of a section of Jalan Selirik, stretching from the JKR store to Lorong Pantau, until June 23. This measure is necessary to carry out extensive repair works following a recent landslide that compromised the road surface.

Alternative Routes Advised

JKR engineer Jawa Gara has advised road users to utilize an alternative route via Jalan Kapit Bypass-Jalan Hill Top-Jalan Puan Sri Tiong-Jalan Selirik during this period. He emphasized the importance of cooperation from the public to facilitate the urgent repair work.

Construction of Protective Wall

In addition to repairing the road, the contractor will construct a concrete retention wall on the hill slope to prevent future landslides. This protective measure aims to ensure the long-term stability and safety of the road.

Contact Information

For further enquiries, the public is advised to contact the Kapit Public Works Department at 084-796040 during office hours.

Recent Road Closures

Earlier this year, a section of the road near Rumah Temui (Native Rest House) was closed for similar reasons, highlighting ongoing efforts to improve road safety in the region.
