TANJUNG MANIS – The inauguration of the 2026 SejaTi MADANI Briefing and Handling Programme was completed at the IKS Hall, Tanjung Manis, marking another step in the government’s efforts to strengthen community prosperity through economic empowerment.
The SejaTi MADANI initiative, overseen by the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) under the Prime Minister’s Department, is designed to stimulate local economic activities and generate income across five key sectors: agriculture and food, livestock, aquaculture, services, and manufacturing.
During the briefing, it was announced that out of 15 applications submitted under the programme, seven have already been approved for implementation in Tanjung Manis District, while another five are currently being processed.
The approvals are expected to provide a significant boost to local communities by supporting projects that can create sustainable livelihoods.
Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development, Len Talif Salleh, who is also the assemblyman for Kuala Rajang, called on Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) in Tanjung Manis to ensure that any allocations received are used responsibly. He emphasised the importance of maintaining trust and delivering results that benefit the people.
“Use it properly, keep the trust, and make it happen,” he urged, highlighting the need for accountability and effective implementation at the grassroots level.
The event was attended by several senior officials, including Dato’ Jasni bin Haji Jubli, Director of ICU Sarawak; Ismail Kasah, Tanjung Manis District Officer; and Norisal binti Saili, Chief Assistant Senior Director of ICU.
Their presence underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring that the programme is well-coordinated and impactful.
The SejaTi MADANI initiative reflects Malaysia’s broader vision of fostering inclusive growth and community resilience.
By focusing on strategic sectors, the programme aims to create opportunities for small-scale entrepreneurs, farmers, and local cooperatives to expand their activities and contribute to regional development.
Community leaders in attendance expressed optimism that the programme would help address economic challenges faced by rural populations, while also encouraging innovation and collaboration among stakeholders.
The emphasis on agriculture, aquaculture, and manufacturing is expected to align with Sarawak’s long-term development goals, particularly in enhancing food security and diversifying income sources.
The briefing concluded with a call for continued cooperation among government agencies, local leaders, and community members to ensure that the SejaTi MADANI programme delivers tangible benefits.
With strong support and proper management, the initiative is set to play a vital role in uplifting communities in Tanjung Manis and beyond.
