The latest progress marks a significant step forward in the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project, as the elevated tracks on both the approaching and departing sides of the station are now visibly taking shape.

The SR06 station is designed to serve as a key transport hub, directly linking the airport to the wider ART network.

Once completed, the station will feature a pedestrian link bridge connecting directly to the airport terminal, offering seamless access for travellers.

This integration is expected to enhance convenience for passengers, allowing them to move easily between air travel and the ART system without the need for additional transport arrangements.

The SR06 ART station will provide direct connectivity between Kuching International Airport, Kuching city centre, Kota Samarahan and Petra Jaya.

Officials have highlighted that the project is part of a broader effort to modernise Sarawak’s public transport infrastructure, reduce traffic congestion and improve mobility across the region.

Sarawak Metro, the agency overseeing the project, has emphasised that the ART system is designed to deliver efficient, sustainable and reliable transport services.

The elevated station near KIA is considered one of the most strategic components of the network, given its role in supporting tourism, business travel and local commuting.

Observers note that the integration of ART with the airport is expected to boost Kuching’s appeal as a regional hub, offering travellers a smoother journey from arrival to city destinations.

The project also aligns with Sarawak’s long-term development goals, which include strengthening connectivity and promoting environmentally friendly transport solutions.

With construction progressing according to plan, the SR06 ART station is set to become a landmark facility, symbolising Sarawak’s commitment to modern urban mobility.

The completion of the guideway structure marks another milestone in the state’s efforts to deliver a world-class transport system for residents and visitors alike.
