The incident raised concerns about road safety, prompting immediate intervention from the Civil Defence Force (APM).

The Sematan District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) confirmed receiving a call from a member of the public who highlighted the hazard.

The fallen pole was blocking traffic and posed risks to motorists and pedestrians. Responding swiftly, APM Sematan deployed personnel to the site to remove the obstruction and restore safe passage.

Officials explained that such incidents, though not uncommon, can present significant dangers if left unattended.

Fallen poles and other roadside hazards can lead to accidents, particularly in areas with limited visibility or heavy traffic. The rapid response ensured that the road was cleared before any further complications arose.

This case forms part of a series of emergency and special service operations handled by APM in the Lundu and Sematan districts.

In recent months, teams have been dispatched to manage medical emergencies, road accidents, and infrastructure hazards.

Their readiness reflects the organisation’s guiding principle of “Ready, Fast & With Integrity”, which underscores its commitment to public safety and operational efficiency.

Local authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report hazards promptly. Community cooperation is seen as vital in ensuring that emergency services can act quickly to prevent accidents and safeguard lives.

The Civil Defence Force continues to encourage the public to make use of its emergency hotline, reminding residents that assistance is available around the clock.

For urgent cases, members of the public in Lundu and Sematan can reach the Civil Defence Force at 082711292.

Officials emphasised that early reporting is key to preventing incidents from escalating, whether they involve health emergencies, road obstructions, or other public safety concerns.

The removal of the telecom pole highlights the importance of coordinated action between local communities and emergency services.

As Sarawak continues to strengthen its emergency response framework, such interventions demonstrate the value of preparedness and the dedication of frontline personnel in maintaining safety across the region.
