JOHOR BAHRU – His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim has departed for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on a special visit from 22 to 24 December, marking his maiden official trip to the Gulf nation since ascending the throne.
The visit was made at the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, reflecting the close and longstanding ties between Malaysia and the Emirates.
Earlier today, His Majesty’s special aircraft took off from the Royal Hangar at Senai International Airport, Johor, at 9.00 am.
The departure ceremony was attended by senior officials including Dato’ Asman Shah Abd Rahman, Secretary to the Government of Johor; Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Azmi Rohani, Datuk Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara; and Colonel (Rtd) Dato’ Mohamed Perang Musa, Comptroller of the Royal Household of Johor.
The visit is expected to strengthen bilateral relations between Malaysia and the UAE, particularly in areas of economic cooperation, investment, and cultural exchange.
Malaysia and the UAE have enjoyed strong diplomatic and trade ties, with the Emirates being one of Malaysia’s key partners in the Middle East.
Observers note that Sultan Ibrahim’s visit comes at a time when Malaysia is seeking to expand its international partnerships, especially in energy, technology, and sustainable development.
The UAE, known for its rapid modernisation and global influence, has been a consistent supporter of Malaysia’s economic and cultural initiatives.
The Agong’s presence in the UAE is also seen as symbolic of Malaysia’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with Muslim-majority nations, reinforcing shared values and mutual respect.
This special visit will include high-level engagements and discussions with UAE leaders, aimed at further enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
