The event was officiated by Tan Kai, Chairman of the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), who represented Dr Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government. The programme brought together participants from different backgrounds, including community members, dancers, organisers, photographers.

Among those present were representatives from the Federation of Commercial Photographic Societies Malaysia, the Sarawak Commercial Photographers Association. Members of the organising committee, sponsors, volunteers and members of the media also attended the event.

In a speech delivered on behalf of Dr Sim, Tan Kai congratulated the organising committee for successfully hosting the meaningful programme and thanked everyone who took part in promoting a healthier lifestyle. He said the strong turnout reflected the unity, positive spirit and energy of the people of Sarawak.

The speech highlighted that the Sarawak Government’s Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) aims to transform Sarawak into a developed and high-income region by 2030 through balanced economic growth, social inclusiveness and environmental sustainability.

It also stressed that while Sarawak continues to strengthen its economy and infrastructure, equal attention must be given to improving the health, wellbeing and quality of life of its people. A prosperous Sarawak, the speech noted, can only be achieved with a healthy and resilient population.

The message reminded the public that maintaining good health is not solely the responsibility of hospitals or healthcare professionals. Every individual also has a role to play by adopting healthier daily habits through regular physical activities such as aerodance, walking, jogging and other forms of exercise.

According to the speech, regular exercise helps reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases, improves physical fitness, reduces stress and contributes to better mental wellbeing. Participants were encouraged to make physical activity part of their daily routine and inspire others to do the same.

The event also reflected the spirit of inclusiveness promoted under PCDS 2030, where people of all ages, races, occupations and backgrounds could come together to enjoy healthy recreational activities. Such programmes help strengthen friendships, encourage community participation and promote harmony among the people.

The speech also expressed hope that government agencies, local authorities, non-governmental organisations, community groups and the private sector would continue working together to organise more health and recreational programmes across Sarawak. Public facilities such as the Ang Cheng Ho Quarry Multipurpose Hall were highlighted as suitable venues for activities that encourage healthier communities and improve the quality of life.

Appreciation was also extended to sponsors, instructors, committee members and volunteers for their dedication in making the Sarawak Sunrise Aerodance Tour a success across various cities in the state. Their efforts have helped spread awareness about the importance of healthy living to communities throughout Sarawak.

The organisers also acknowledged the contribution of Sarawak Daily as the event’s media partner. Through extensive coverage across its digital and social media platforms, Sarawak Daily played an important role in promoting the Sarawak Sunrise Aerodance Tour, helping to maximise public awareness and encourage more people to take part in the meaningful community fitness programme. Its continuous support contributed to the strong turnout of more than 500 participants at the Kuching finale.

The successful finale demonstrated the growing public interest in community fitness programmes while reinforcing the Sarawak Government’s commitment to encouraging healthier lifestyles and stronger community engagement through accessible recreational activities.
