JOHOR BAHRU – Prime Minister and Pakatan Harapan Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged Johor residents to prioritise integrity and trustworthy leadership, stressing that divisive politics should not overshadow the state’s future.

Speaking in Felda Palong Timur, Anwar remarked that the people of Johor are becoming more discerning and less influenced by what he described as “politics of hatred, slander and dogma born from a lack of ideas”.

He emphasised that the state requires leaders who work for the people rather than exploit divisions for political gain.

“Johor needs clean, integrated and trustworthy leadership that works for the people, rather than dividing society for political gain,” he said.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that Johor’s electorate is capable of making informed decisions, highlighting the importance of choosing leadership that ensures stability and development.

“I am confident that the people of Johor are capable of making the right choice and choosing HARAPAN for the sake of a more developed, stable and dignified future for the state,” he added.

Johor, a state with significant economic and strategic importance, has often been seen as a bellwether in Malaysian politics.

Analysts note that its proximity to Singapore and role in industrial growth make governance and stability in the state particularly crucial.

Anwar’s remarks reflect broader themes of accountability and integrity in leadership, which have been central to political discourse in Malaysia.

Observers suggest that his comments are aimed at reinforcing public trust in governance and encouraging voters to focus on long-term development rather than short-term political disputes.

The Prime Minister concluded his address with the phrase “Johor Ke Depan”, signalling a forward-looking vision for the state’s progress and dignity.
