Massive 15-foot Python with 30 Eggs Found Under Taxi in Kuching

Massive 15-foot Python with 30 Eggs Found Under Taxi in Kuching

KUCHING, March 18 – Residents of Kampung Tabuan Dani were left in shock after a massive 15-foot long python was discovered hiding under an unused taxi on March 17.

The discovery, which happened around 8:45 pm, was reported to the Malaysian Civil Defense Force (APM) Kuching by PKON Sarawak. Responding swiftly, an APM team arrived at the scene and confirmed that the python weighed approximately 50 kilograms. Adding to the surprise, 30 python eggs were also found near the snake’s hiding spot.

Challenging Rescue Operation The APM team faced difficulties in capturing the giant reptile due to the cramped space beneath the vehicle. Using a snaring technique, they carefully secured the python to ensure both the safety of the rescuers and the reptile. The operation lasted nearly two hours before the snake was successfully removed from the location.

According to an eyewitness at the scene, the python was found with a cat, raising concerns that it might have been hunting for food in the area. Startled by the sight, residents immediately contacted the APM for assistance.

Authorities Urge Public to Stay Alert Following the incident, APM Kuching advised the public to remain vigilant, especially in areas with abandoned vehicles or dense vegetation, as such places can attract large reptiles seeking shelter. Residents facing similar situations or any other emergencies are encouraged to contact APM Kuching at 082-252940 or 082-252941, or call the emergency hotline at 999.

This incident serves as a reminder of the wildlife presence in urban areas and the importance of reporting such sightings to the authorities for safe handling.
