Man Jailed After House Burglary in Daro’s Kampung Tekajong

DARO – Police in Matu Daro have confirmed the arrest and conviction of a 26-year-old man following a residential burglary in Kampung Tekajong on 14 June 2026.

The incident occurred late at night when the complainant’s daughter noticed movement inside their home while the family was asleep.

Alerted by her, the complainant searched the house and discovered the suspect downstairs. The man fled the scene on a motorcycle before police were notified.

Officers from the Matu Daro Criminal Investigation Division swiftly tracked down the suspect and detained him. Initial urine screening revealed the presence of amphetamine and methamphetamine.

The suspect was remanded for four days while police prepared investigation papers, which were later referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor in Sarawak.

On 18 June, the suspect was formally charged under Section 448 of the Penal Code at the Sarikei Magistrate’s Court.

He pleaded guilty to the charge of house trespass and was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment, effective from the date of conviction. He is currently serving his sentence at Sibu Prison.

District Police Chief DSP Rahim Anak Mihos stated that the arrest demonstrated the commitment of local police to safeguarding communities in Daro.

He urged the public to share information directly with the authorities rather than spreading unverified details on social media, which could disrupt investigations and cause unnecessary alarm.
