SERIAN – A total of RM614,600 in incentive donations has been distributed to grassroots organisations and students in Serian, underscoring continued government support for community development and educational advancement.
The Special Contribution Cheque Presentation Ceremony, MRP, SPM and Education Incentive Series 4/2025 was held at the Leort Cottage Meeting Room @ Dibung Pichin on Friday.
The event saw 86 recipients, including 38 grassroots organisations such as the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), local associations, and 48 students who successfully progressed to public and private higher education institutions (IPTA and IPTS).
The ceremony was officiated by Serian Member of Parliament, Dato Sri Richard Riot Jaem, who highlighted the importance of ensuring that every allocation is used effectively to achieve its intended purpose.
He stressed that the funds should strengthen the work of local organisations and provide students with greater confidence as they pursue higher education.
Dato Sri Richard Riot also reminded recipients to submit reports on the utilisation of allocations to the Serian Member of Parliament Service Centre Office. This measure, he explained, is crucial for maintaining transparency and accountability in governance.
The incentive programme reflects the government’s broader commitment to nurturing educational excellence while supporting grassroots organisations that play a vital role in community development.
By combining financial assistance with accountability measures, the initiative aims to ensure that resources are channelled towards meaningful outcomes.
The event was attended by Angela Thomas, Administrative Officer of the Tebedu District Office, and Dayang Nurul Hidayah, Division Engineer from the Serian Irrigation and Drainage Department, alongside other officials.
The distribution of RM614,600 in donations marks another step in reinforcing Sarawak’s vision of inclusive development, where both community organisations and young people are empowered to contribute to the state’s progress.
