KUCHING – The JPJ Kuching Branch Operations Unit conducted a Motorcycle Ops on 10 February 2026, focusing on patrols and monitoring throughout the city. Static inspections were also carried out along Jalan Dato Haji Daud, Matang, covering both directions.
A total of 903 vehicles, including commercial and private, were inspected during the operation. Officers detected various offences, such as driving without a valid licence, missing vocational licences, incorrect registration numbers, and technical faults that posed safety risks.
As part of enforcement actions, 14 vehicles were confiscated: 10 motorcycles, two cars, and two vans. These were seized after being found with expired Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM) and without valid insurance coverage.
JPJ Kuching stressed that compliance with licensing and insurance rules is essential for the safety of all road users. The public was reminded to regularly check the validity of their driving licences, LKM, and insurance before using their vehicles.
Officials noted that such operations are part of JPJ’s ongoing efforts to reduce accidents and improve road discipline. Combining patrols with static checkpoints allows enforcement teams to identify offenders more effectively and discourage unsafe practices.
The department underlined that public cooperation is key to maintaining road safety standards. Following regulations not only protects individual drivers but also supports the safety and well-being of the wider community.
This Motorcycle Ops reflects JPJ’s approach of pairing enforcement with awareness efforts. By backing advocacy campaigns with firm action, the department aims to encourage safer driving behaviour. Similar operations will continue across Sarawak to safeguard road users.
