KUCHING – His Excellency the Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, accompanied by his wife, Yang Amat Berbahagia Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, attended a special briefing session on Hajj preparations at the Santapan Hall, Surau Astana Negeri, on 4 May. The event was held in conjunction with their upcoming departure for the pilgrimage season of 1447H.
The couple was joined by family members, including Sharifah Nong-Jasima and her husband, Encik Muhammad Nur Hakeem.
Their arrival was formally received by YBhg. Dato Sri Syed Haji Hamzah bin Syed Paie, Senior Private Secretary to the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, and YBrs. Tuan Haji Amat Kassim bin Pait, Director of Tabung Haji Sarawak, along with senior officers from the Governor’s Office.
The ceremony also saw the attendance of YB Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts, who served as the ministerial escort, accompanied by his wife, YBhg. Datin Sri Hajah Zuraini binti Abdul Jaabar.
Yang Mulia Tengku Dato’ Badlishah Shukri bin Tengku Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of TH Travel and Services Sdn. Bhd, was present alongside facilitators from the Tabung Haji Board.
The programme began with a briefing on the travel arrangements delivered by Tuan Haji Suamdi bin Hiri, Regional Manager of Tabung Haji Travel and Services for Sarawak.
This was followed by a detailed Hajj briefing conducted by Alfadhil Ustaz Ramzen bin Ambi, Head of the Halal Management Division at JAIS and instructor of the Malaysian Hajj Course (PEKTA).
The session utilised the Hajj Special Course (KKH) module, which focuses on practical aspects of worship in smaller groups, ensuring pilgrims are well-prepared for the rituals.
Tun Pehin Sri expressed his gratitude to TH Travel and Services for organising the session, noting its importance in equipping pilgrims with the necessary mental, spiritual, and religious knowledge before embarking on the journey to the Holy Land.
He emphasised that such preparation is vital for ensuring the pilgrimage is carried out with devotion and discipline.
In his remarks, the Governor prayed for all pilgrims selected this year to be granted ease in their journey and acceptance of their worship.
He hoped that each participant would be blessed with a successful pilgrimage and attain the status of Hajj Mabrur.
The briefing highlighted the state’s commitment to supporting its pilgrims through structured guidance and practical training, reinforcing Sarawak’s role in ensuring that its citizens are well-prepared for one of the most significant spiritual journeys in Islam.
