The Prime Minister inspected the post’s operations, which play a crucial role in safeguarding Malaysia’s sovereignty in the northern waters of Sabah.

Dogoton Post is tasked with monitoring and countering threats such as smuggling, cross-border crime, and potential incursions.

During the visit, Anwar received a detailed briefing on the operational strategies employed by the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) in the area.

He was also taken to observe the surrounding archipelago and reviewed the functioning of radar systems, which serve as vital assets for maritime surveillance and security enforcement.

Assignments in remote and challenging environments such as Banggi Island demand resilience, discipline, and strong morale from personnel.

Anwar praised the steadfastness and courage of the ATM team stationed at Dogoton, describing their commitment as a symbol of sacrifice that ensures peace and stability for the nation.

“The steadfastness, courage and preparedness of the team in defending every inch of the country’s waters from any threat are symbols of sacrifice that are rarely seen, but they are a fortress that ensures that we continue to live in peace and tranquillity,” he said.

The Prime Minister emphasised that the presence of security personnel in such areas is not only a defence measure but also a reassurance to communities living near the border.

Their vigilance helps maintain order and strengthens Malaysia’s position in protecting its maritime boundaries.

Observers note that Malaysia’s border posts, including Dogoton, are increasingly important given the rise in transnational crime and smuggling activities in Southeast Asia.

The government has prioritised investment in security infrastructure and technology to ensure effective monitoring of its maritime zones.

Anwar’s visit reflects Malaysia’s broader commitment to regional security, particularly in areas bordering the Philippines.

His remarks highlighted the importance of neighbourly cooperation and the role of ASEAN in promoting peace and stability across shared waters.
