The initiative runs for 9 days, from 27 May to 4 June 2026, aimed at ensuring essential goods remain affordable and to prevent unreasonable price hikes during the festive period.

Items placed under the maximum price control include live old chicken, chicken wings, imported buffalo meat from India, garlic from China, and imported round cabbage from Indonesia and China (excluding Beijing cabbage). Other controlled items are curly dried chilli, coconut seeds (wholesale level only), grated coconut (retail level only), coconut milk (retail level only), pork belly, pork meat with fat, and live pigs (farm level only).

KPDN Sarawak said the scheme is part of its effort to protect consumers and maintain stable market prices during major celebrations in the state.

The department also thanked its director, Matthew Ak Dominic Barin, for his proactive approach and flexibility in implementing different price control measures for various festive seasons in Sarawak.
