KUCHING, June 2026 – Sarawak’s young musical talent is preparing to make history on the international stage as 12-year-old vocalist Taylor Louise gets ready for her debut performance at the prestigious Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, in New York on July 11, 2026.
The talented singer from Sarawak will represent both Sarawak and Malaysia at the New York International Golden Classical Music Awards, marking a significant milestone in her growing musical career. Her participation is made possible through the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP Sarawak), which continues to invest in the development of young talents and promote Anak Sarawak Global ambassadors on the world stage.
Taylor recently received words of encouragement from Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who congratulated her on her achievements and wished her success as she prepares for the prestigious international event.
Despite her young age, Taylor has already established herself as a promising vocalist through her participation in several international music competitions. Among her notable achievements was receiving the Exceptional Young Talent Award in Paris, France, in December 2025. The recognition further strengthened her reputation as one of Sarawak’s emerging musical talents.
The upcoming competition and performance in New York will bring together gifted young musicians from across the globe, including participants from the United States, South Korea, China, India, France, Canada, Australia, Brazil, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Indonesia and many other countries. As Malaysia’s sole representative, Taylor will proudly carry the Sarawak and Malaysian flags while showcasing her talent before an international audience.
Her appearance at Carnegie Hall is regarded as a remarkable accomplishment. The world-famous venue has been recognised as one of the most respected performance halls in the world since its opening in 1891 and has hosted generations of renowned musicians and performers.
Speaking ahead of her departure, Taylor expressed her gratitude to the Sarawak Government and MTCP Sarawak for supporting her journey. She also thanked Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg and Deputy Premier Sim Kui Hian for their encouragement and support.
The young vocalist also acknowledged the unwavering support of her parents, vocal coach Sabrina Tnay, members of the media and all those who have contributed to her musical development over the years.
Taylor said it is a great honour to represent both Sarawak and Malaysia on one of the world’s most prestigious stages. She pledged to continue working hard and give her best performance while carrying the spirit of Sarawak to an international audience.
She is scheduled to depart for New York on July 6, 2026, where she will take part in rehearsals, award ceremonies and preparations leading up to her highly anticipated Carnegie Hall debut.
Taylor’s achievement reflects the growing success of Sarawak’s young talents in the global creative industry. Her journey serves as an inspiration for young Malaysians, demonstrating that dedication, hard work and determination can open doors to opportunities on the world stage.
As she prepares for this historic performance, many Sarawakians and Malaysians will be watching with pride, hoping to see another local talent leave a lasting impression in one of the world’s most celebrated music venues.
