Avis & Budget Malaysia Powers Green Travel at RWMF 2026

KUCHING, 26 June 2026 — Sustainable travel took centre stage at the Rainforest World Music Festival 2026 as Avis & Budget Group Malaysia played a key role in improving mobility and reducing traffic impact around the major cultural event held at Sarawak Cultural Village.

As thousands of visitors, media representatives, and performers gathered for the three-day festival, the official Mobility & Platinum Partner introduced a coordinated transport system designed to reduce the number of individual vehicles entering the festival grounds. This approach helped ease congestion, lower carbon emissions, and improve overall travel efficiency during one of Sarawak’s busiest international events.

Operated under DRB-HICOM EZ-Drive Sdn Bhd, Avis & Budget Malaysia worked closely with event organisers to ensure that media personnel were transported through shared and centralised routes. This reduced repeated trips between Kuching city and the festival site while also improving safety and traffic flow in the Santubong area.

The initiative aligns closely with the festival’s 2026 theme, “Regenerations: Roots & Rhythm,” which highlights environmental responsibility, cultural renewal, and sustainable practices. It also supports ongoing efforts by the Sarawak Tourism Board to promote greener tourism across the state.

Speaking on the initiative, Avis & Budget Group Malaysia’s Covering Chief Operating Officer, Adzfar Aziz, said mobility is more than just transport between locations. He stressed that travel should connect people to culture, nature, and local stories, especially in a destination like Sarawak where eco-tourism plays a growing role in the visitor experience.

As part of the broader transport support, the company ensured smoother movement of media teams between Kuching city, festival grounds, and key cultural sites. This allowed better coverage of the festival and gave international media easier access to Sarawak’s heritage, music, and natural attractions.

The mobility programme also reflects the Group’s connection to the wider automotive ecosystem under EON Berhad, which continues to support tourism development and sustainable travel initiatives across Malaysia.

During RWMF 2026, Avis & Budget Malaysia promoted its dual-brand strategy to meet different traveller needs. The Avis brand focuses on premium travel experiences with higher comfort and service levels, while Budget Malaysia provides more affordable and practical rental options for everyday travellers. This approach allows visitors to choose based on budget, purpose, and sustainability preferences.

In conjunction with RWMF 2026 and Visit Malaysia Year 2026, the company also introduced self-drive travel incentives. These include discounted car rental rates of up to 30 percent for Avis, and Budget Malaysia daily rates starting from RM68 for a Proton Persona and RM138 for a Mitsubishi Xpander. A RM200 Tripfez travel voucher was also offered for bookings made during the festival period, valid for use until July.

The initiative encourages visitors to explore Sarawak beyond the festival grounds, supporting local tourism while reducing dependency on short-distance shuttle movements.

For more details, visitors can refer to the official websites at Avis Malaysia Official Site and Budget Malaysia Official Site.

As Sarawak continues to position itself as a leading eco-tourism destination, initiatives like this highlight how coordinated mobility planning can support both major events and long-term sustainability goals.
