According to the operation report, the call was received at 8.20pm, prompting the Bravo Squad to be dispatched within minutes.

The team arrived at the scene at 8.26pm and discovered the python hiding beneath a dilapidated car belonging to the complainant.

Using specialised equipment, including snake catchers and tongs, the team carried out the capture operation.

The python, estimated to measure 14 feet in length and weighing approximately 20 kilograms, was safely secured by 8.41pm. The squad returned to the District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) at 8.48pm.

Authorities confirmed that the operation was conducted smoothly, with no untoward incidents reported. The swift response ensured that the reptile was removed without posing further danger to residents in the area.

Wildlife encounters of this nature are not uncommon in Sarawak, where snakes often venture into residential areas in search of food or shelter.

Experts note that large pythons can pose risks to pets and livestock, and their presence near homes can cause alarm among communities.

APM Saratok has urged residents to remain vigilant, particularly in areas where wildlife habitats overlap with human settlements.

Officials stressed that the public should avoid attempting to capture snakes themselves, as such actions can be dangerous. Instead, residents are encouraged to immediately contact the authorities for assistance.

The Civil Defence Force continues to operate under its guiding principle of “Ready, Fast & With Integrity”, reflecting its commitment to professionalism and public safety.

District-level squads such as Bravo play a crucial role in ensuring rapid intervention, particularly in rural communities where wildlife encounters are more frequent.

Local authorities have reminded the public that emergency services are available around the clock. For urgent cases, residents in Saratok and surrounding districts can reach the Civil Defence Force at 082711292.

As Sarawak strengthens its emergency response framework, incidents like this highlight the importance of preparedness and the dedication of frontline personnel.

The safe capture of the batik python in Taman Muhibbah serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of wildlife encounters and the need for swift, coordinated action to protect communities.
